Bruce guides the company with a mission-directed approach that keeps the team focused on achieving its strategic goals. His 40-year real estate career includes many facets of the apartment industry such as management, design, development, acquisition, and construction with national and regional companies. 2nd Wave is Bruce’s second venture in apartment development with the Sembler family, the first being the Ballast Point Group, which developed apartments and condominiums in the 2000’s. Bruce earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina.

Mark manages all facets of the business—from site selection and project design to capital structuring, construction, and operations—ensuring the success of our apartment communities. Mark’s development career began with Duval Development and continued with 2nd Wave’s sister company, Blue Sky Communities. Mark earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University (cum laude) and an MBA in Real Estate and Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Alissa oversees the teams responsible for successful execution of all prospective and current development projects. With a passion for design, planning, construction, and operations, Alissa ensures that each project satisfies 2nd Wave’s elite standards and elicits the best return. Her unique background in development and law offers a competitive advantage in representing our investors’ interests. Alissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship as well as her Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University.
Stephen leads the team responsible for the identification, evaluation, and negotiation of all site selections and land acquisitions. He comes to 2nd Wave with significant successful sales and service leadership experience in the professional sports industry. Stephen earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, master’s degree from the University of Florida, and MBA from the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor, Ontario.
Julianne oversees 2nd Wave’s in-house design department. Her keen eye for detail and collaborative approach help bring 2nd Wave’s vision to life in beautiful ways. Julianne came to us after leading one of Chicago’s top residential design firms. She brings more than a decade of experience with large-scale residential and commercial interior design projects. Julianne earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Florida State University.
Bryan manages debt and equity negotiations for new developments as well as debt placements on stabilized communities. He maintains key relationships among major lenders and investors, securing capital for 2nd Wave’s development deals. His career includes more than 11 years of leading structured finance efforts for private equity multifamily organizations, developing finance strategies for new acquisitions, managing portfolio debt, and driving capitalization efforts for new development projects. Bryan earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate from Florida State University.
Lauren oversees due diligence and risk management for prospective and current development projects. Her specialized legal background puts her in a unique position to assess and avoid potential issues before they arise. Lauren began her career as a commercial real estate attorney, representing developers in land acquisition, financing, development, and disposition. Lauren earned her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law (cum laude).
Richard is responsible for the oversight and quality control of all 2nd Wave construction projects. He has 30 years of experience throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Prior to joining 2nd Wave, Richard was a Senior Project/Construction Manager with an international real estate developer. Richard holds degrees in Architecture, Construction Management, and an MBA in Finance from Syracuse, New York University, and Rutgers respectively. Richard is a licensed Florida General Contractor.
Stan is responsible for overseeing the planning, permitting, and execution of development projects in the Tennessee market. With over 35 years of construction experience managing development, pre-construction, and field oversight, he has successfully overseen the completion of more than 6,000 apartment units in various markets covering a broad array of building types and construction methods. Prior to joining 2nd Wave, Stan held an oversight and management role for a large multifamily developer.
Tristan manages all facets of development for a number of our prospective and current communities. After a successful three years as a finance and acquisitions analyst here at 2nd Wave, he has shifted his focus and grown very quickly in the Development Department. Tristan’s scope of work includes primary oversight for a number of projects in the Florida market. Tristan earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate from Florida State University.
Russell supports our acquisitions and finance efforts, playing a significant role in the underwriting and analysis of both prospective and ongoing projects. Prior to joining the 2nd Wave team, he worked as a Finance Manager at Allstate. Russell earned his MBA in Finance from the University of Florida. He also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Real Estate from UF, where he was a member of the Florida Blue Key leadership honor society.
Katie assists the acquisitions and finance leadership team by conducting market research and financial analysis for prospective and ongoing projects. Prior to joining 2nd Wave, she worked providing financial management and planning services to municipalities nationwide at a large international design and consulting company. Katie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Finance from Florida State University.
Lorraine oversees all elements of 2nd Wave’s marketing and brand management. She began her career volunteering for non-profit environmental organizations and continued developing her skills while working in city planning, construction publishing, and marketing agencies. Fluent in several languages having lived and worked around the globe, she brings a valuable international perspective to our team. Lorraine earned her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Universidad Taller 5 in Bogotá, Colombia.
Dana is 2nd Wave’s operations and logistics point woman for all elements of our design process.. Her passion for design and pragmatic approach to material management are crucial for taking our design team’s vision from the drawing board to reality. After over a decade working with several of the top national and international luxury retailers and design firms, Dana brings a wealth of experience which helps us create communities of the highest caliber.
Bradley supports our acquisition efforts by performing market and financial analysis for both prospective and ongoing projects. Before joining the 2nd Wave team, he worked as a Data Analyst and Administrative Coordinator at an international commercial real estate firm. Bradley holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, minor in Entrepreneurship, and a Master of Science in Real Estate both from the University of Florida.
As 2nd Wave’s Junior Analyst, Demetrius assists the acquisitions and finance teams by performing market analysis of prospective and ongoing developments. He joined 2nd Wave with previous experience in multi-family investing and commercial real estate management. Demetrius has a passion for entrepreneurship and has past experience in the fitness, food service, and real estate industries. Demetrius graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven.
As 2nd Wave’s Development Coordinator, Andrew supports all aspects of development for our prospective and current communities. Prior to joining 2nd Wave, Andrew served five years in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from New York University (cum laude) and Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he served on the board of the Real Estate Law Association and spent a semester working at national REIT.
Dalton assists the acquisitions and finance teams by coordinating prospective and ongoing project efforts. He joins 2nd Wave with previous experience in sales, marketing, and project management, having worked for a national smart home company. Dalton earned his bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and MIS from Florida State University, where he was a member of the Real Estate Society and competed on FSU’s Sales Team.
Kiara plays a vital role in the company’s day-to-day operations, as the lead manager for all of 2nd Wave’s administrative matters. Her previous experience in the construction industry, working as an administrator for several national general contractors, makes Kiara a true asset and dynamic member of the team. She holds OSHA 10 and Notary certifications, and is fluent in Spanish and Catalan having grown up in Barcelona, Spain.
Grace oversees daily office operations with a special focus on the needs of the development team. Her ability to anticipate requirements and effectively execute a wide range of tasks is key to maintaining a steady workflow. Prior to joining 2nd Wave, Grace spent six years working for both corporate and academic entities, gaining experience in administration, event planning, and social media management. Grace earned her bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University.
Lizaura manages the myriad accounting functions and requirements for all stages of our development projects and oversees the monthly financials for all related entities. She has more than a decade of experience in commercial and residential real estate development accounting. Lizaura has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico and an MBA in Accounting from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.
Carmen aids 2nd Wave’s in-house accounting team by scrutinizing transactions and coordinating with outside financial institutions to ensure the steady progress of our development operations. She comes to 2nd Wave with previous experience in the fields of law and real estate, having worked as a leasing director for two national property managers. A Miami native, Carmen spent her early years living in the Dominican Republic.
